Retriever Training, Breeding, and Boarding

  • Lake Country Retrievers specializes in training and breeding Labrador Retrievers. Located in Warrenton, NC, Jim Elam, owner and operator, opened Lake Country Retrievers in 1998, after 20 years in Public Education. Training hunting dogs fit well with a teaching and coaching career - the similarities are many. We have the teaching skills, patience, and work ethic to develop young retrievers to realize their hunting potential.
  • We have competed in AKC Retriever Hunt Tests since 2001 and have titled a few Junior dogs and numerous Senior and Master dogs. In 2009, LCR made its sixth visit to the Master National Hunt Test and returned with 2 qualifying ribbons. 
 

Our Team 

  • We are very fortunate to have assistant trainers Prentice Alston and Edward Stancil on our staff. LCR takes pride in the knowledge and teamwork these young men bring to our program. With this team, LCR is able to provide the necessary discipline and education the retrievers will need to become successful  duck hunters.
